The 2023 Memorial Day decoy honors the families of those who never came home. Beginning during WW1, the Service Flag was displayed by families who had a service member deployed overseas. Each deployed service member was represented by a blue star in the center of a red rectangle. If the service member died, the blue star was replaced by a gold star to denote the family's loss. Today this tradition has grown into an entire community of families that carry on the legacy of their lost loved one through their recognition as "gold star families."
Folds of Honor
A portion of proceeds from the 2023 Memorial Day decoy will go to benefit the work of Folds of Honor. Since 2007, they have provided life-changing scholarships to the spouses and children of America’s fallen or disabled military.
The Decoy
The 2023 Memorial Day decoy is a limited edition redhead decoy, adapted to incorporate the gold star flag. Only 24 were made in the series. Each decoy is hand-painted, signed, and individually numbered. It includes a hardwood decoy stand and certificate of authenticity to denote its unique status.
